Golden Boy’s parade of soft touches for prospects on Telefutura continues as Luis Ramos Jr. (19-0, 8 KOs) battles David Rodela (15-4-3, 6 KOs), who is 1-3-1 in his last five fights against prospects and is establishing himself as a gatekeeper in the junior lightweight division.
For Ramos this may or may not even be a step up; a look at his record shows a lot of experienced but not particularly skilled fighters with winning percentages hovering above .500 but below elite level. He has wins over Walter Estrada (35-11 at the time of the fight), Cristian Favela (29-16-4), Francisco Lorenzo (36-9), and a host of others who make their living fighting on TV as the opponent. As seems to be the pattern on Solo Boxeo, Ramos should give an entertaining 10 rounds, do enough to win, and not bring a lot of fireworks in the process.
The fights, from the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California, air on Telefutura Friday night, September 30, at 11:30 PM Eastern/8:30 Pacific time.
