Aydin, Rhodes Victorious; The Rest of Saturday’s Action

In a welterweight clash, Turkey’s Selcuk Aydin (23-0, 17 KOs) took a unanimous decision over Romanian, Ionut Dan Ion (29-2, 16 KOs) in a rematch of his controversial 2010 split decision win. The judges’ scores were 113-112, 113-112, 115-111. Ion was down in the first and eleventh rounds, Aydin was deducted a point in the twelfth.

Magna Centre, Rotherham, Yorkshire, United Kingdom–

Former junior middleweight world title challenger, Ryan Rhodes (46-5, 31 KOs) won an eight-round referee decision over Siarhei Khomitski (23-9-2, 9 KOs) by a score of 79-74.

Plaza de Toros Rea, Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico–

On the Jorge Arce-Angky Angkotta undercard, Mexico’s Juan Alberto Rosas (36-6, 27 KOs) won an IBF super flyweight title eliminator against South Africa’s Zolani Tete (15-2, 13 KOs)

Campo Futbol Colosio, Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico–

On the Humberto Soto-Adailton De Jesus undercard, former lightweight world champion, Jose Luis Castillo (63-11-1, 54 KOs) stopped journeyman, Sammy Ventura (26-22, 20 KOs) in the second round of their scheduled ten round bout.

Monumental Plaza de Toros, Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico–

On the Saul Alvarez-Kermit Cintron undercard, Japan’s Nobuhiro Ishida (24-6-2, 9 KOs) stopped Edson Espinoza (0-1) in the first round of their scheduled ten-rounder.
