Illusions Theater, San Antonio, Texas–Former undisputed middleweight champion, Kelly Pavlik (38-2, 33 KOs) barely broke a sweat in stopping horribly overmatched Aaron “Jedi” Jaco (15-3, 5 KOs) in the second round of their scheduled 10-round light heavyweight bout.

Jaco, who had only logged one in-ring round in the last sixty-four months (5 years, 4 months) was hurt by every punch landed, beginning with the first jab from Pavlik. The native of Sarasota, Florida tried to move, but was clearly just cannon fodder and would hit the canvas at the end of the first round, following a short left hook from the former world titlist.
Pavlik, in his first fight under the guidance of new trainer Robert Garcia, would end the farce with the first punch landed in the second round, a sweeping left hand high up on the head of Jaco.
The battered, semi-retired club fighter would beat the count, but was in no condition to continue. Truthfully, the commission could’ve saved everyone’s time and energy by waving off the contest at the contract signing.
For Pavlik, it was a minimal payday and not much else. One wonders how a mismatch like this could be good for anyone involved.
