Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin (22-0, 19 KOs) looks to make the fourth defense of his lesser WBA “world” title this Saturday at the Ice Palace “Terminal” in Brovari, Ukraine against unknown Japanese challenger, Makoto Fuchigami (19-6, 10 KOs)

Golovkin won the vacant WBA interim middleweight belt against Milton Nuñez in 2010 and was later bumped up to full champ despite Felix Sturm’s status as long-reigning, active WBA middleweight titlist. Since winning the title, the 30-year-old Golovkin has defended against Nilson Julio Tapia, Kassim Ouma, and most recently, Lajuan Simon.

Fuchigama is a former Japanese middleweight champ with only one real fight worth noting– a TKO 9 victory over former Felix Sturm challenger, Koji Sato.
