After two years on the shelf, Danish super middle weight Mads Larsen will be back in the ring this Saturday, June 2nd, for the latest installment of the recently formed “Nordic Fight Night” series. With a record of 51-3 (38 KO’s), he’ll be meeting the undefeated Luke Blackledge (9-0, 3 KO’s) of the U.K. in a scheduled eight rounder.

At 39 years of age, Larsen has a limited time frame to resurrect what may be left of his boxing career.  His last bout was a seventh round TKO loss to Brian Magee in 2010, a fight that was for the EBU super middleweight title.  Prior to that bout, he hadn’t fought since 2008 after stopping Roberto Cocco.  His career has spanned nearly 20 years, and he has held the IBO and WBF world super middleweight titles as well as the EBU super middleweight strap.

Though Larsen’s come back has generated a lot of talk, he’s not the main event fighter for the card. Headlining the show will be the undefeated Cecilia Braekhus and junior middleweight Reda Zam Zam.

Braekhus (19-0, 5 KO’s) will be defending her WBA, WBC and WBO female welterweight titles against (22-1,10 KO’s) Jessica Balogun. Braekhus has held at least two of her world titles since 2009, making nine successful defenses.  A very active fighter, she’s fought at least three times a year since her career began in 2007.

Zam Zam (25-1, 12 KO’s) continues his comeback against 18-7 Giuseppe Langella in the 10 round main event. Reda got back in the ring in 2011 after a first round knockout loss to Carlos Donquiz put him on a four-year hiatus.

Rounding out the Nordic Fight Night card will be “The Contender” season one contestant Ahmad “Baby Face” Kaddour (24-2, 10KO’s), Karo Murat (24-1, 14KO’s), Erik Skoglund (10-0, 5 KO’s), and up and comer Torben Keller (4-0, 1 KO).

Nordic Fight Night can be seen on TV3 / Viasat (Denmark), TV10 (Sweden) and Viasat Norway.  Cards may also be available on Box Nation in the U.K. or Polsat in Poland.
