Yoan Pablo Hernandez (26-1, 13 KOs) defends his IBF cruiserweight belt against one-time title challenger Troy Ross (25-2, 16 KOs) at the Stechert Arena in Bamberg September 15th.
The fight will be Harnandez’s second defence of the title he took from Steve Cunningham in October 2011 by technical decision, and then confirmed with a close-fought twelve round decision in February.
Ross is notable for his own challenge on Cunningham’s crown back in 2010, when he dropped the American champion in the fourth round, but then succumbed to cuts in the very next round. The 37 year old Ross has been relatively inactive since, taking a couple of meaningless decision wins, but will be considered a fair challenge for 27 year old Hernandez given the Cunningham performance.
