The IBF light heavyweight title fight scheduled for August 11 between champion Tavoris Cloud (24-0, 19 KOs) and Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KOs) has been postponed; ESPN’s Dan Rafael reports that Pascal had to pull out of the fight with an injury to his right hand suffered in training.
Promoter Yvon Michel, whose GYM Promotions had been putting on the original fight card at Bell Centre in Montreal, is looking toward an October 13th date at the same venue for a rescheduled fight night. However, this would create a conflict with Showtime, which does not have that date available for a televised card.
In addition, the scheduled co-feature between Adonis Stevenson (18-1, 15 KOs) and Don George (22-2-1, 19 KOs) may or may not still be on; no word is yet available as to whether the fight will be elevated to a main event status (Stevenson is a strong draw on the Montreal fight scene) or whether it too will be postponed either along with the Cloud-Pascal event or as a separate fight on another fight card.
