Cuban super featherweight prospect Rances Barthelemy (16-0, 11 KOs) takes on Mexican journeyman Alejandro Rodriguez (14-6, 7 KOs) at the Doubletree Miamimart Hotel in Miami, Florida on Saturday, August 18.
Barthelemy, a slick, tall boxer from Cuba, has moved along nicely so far in his three years as a professional. When he faced fellow prospect Hylon Williams Jr. on Friday Night Fights in February, Barthelemy completely outclassed him on the way to a dominant 8-round decision victory. In his last outing, Barthelemy took another decision victory over Robert Osiobe at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. With another victory on Saturday night, Barthelemy should be moved along to stiffer competition as his career moves forward.
Rodriguez has served well to provide competition to other young up and coming stars such as Eloy Perez, John Molina, and Mickey Bey Jr. Rodriguez was able to last ten rounds with Perez, but was knocked out by Molina and Bey and three and four rounds, respectively. Rodriguez goes into Saturday night’s fight having lost five of his last seven, with two losses coming by way of knockout.
