Breidis Prescott and Frankie Figueroa in Action on Saturday Night in Miami

Breidis “Khanqueror” Prescott (25-4, 20 KOs) and Frankie “El Gato” Figueroa Jr. (20-4-1, 13 KOs) will face off in an eight-round jr. welterweight fight at the Doubletree Miamimart Hotel  in Miami, Florida on Saturday, August 18.

Prescott, who has drafted on his one-round obliteration of Amir Khan four years ago, is coming out of the second set of back-to-back losses in his career. Following his knockout of Khan, Prescott dropped consecutive decisions to Miguel Vazquez and Kevin Mitchell in 2009. After three straight wins, Prescott lost a unanimous decision to Paul McCloskey in Ireland before being stopped by Mike Alvarado in eleven rounds. Prescott returned to his native Colombia in January and stopped fellow countryman Joel Cassiani in two rounds.

Figueroa’s career was derailed by promoter/management problems, and cost him nearly three years following a tepid majority draw with Rashad Holloway. Seven months prior to his draw with Holloway, Figueroa was stretched by a Randall Bailey signature right hand, spoiling his attempt to break from prospect to contender. Figueroa’s return from the long layoff was spoiled by unknown, but undefeated welterweight, Alex Perez.
