WBA lightweight champion Richar Abril (18-3-1, 8 KO’s) will defend the world title against undefeated Russian Eduard Troyanovsky (17-0, 14 KO’s), according to promoter Vlad Hrunov. The fight will take place March 15th in Moscow.richar abril

This will be Abril’s first bout since defeating Sharif Bogere last March after an injury to the champion scrapped a scheduled match against Jorge Linares earlier this year. That was his first defense since being elevated to a full status champion after a brief reign as the interim titlist, the interim belt is now held by Yuriorkis Gamboa. No word on why Abril isn’t rescheduled to face Linares, as Linares went on after the cancellation to fight twice in Japan, scoring two knockout victories.

Troyanovsky, a former WBO European and PABA lightweight title holder, has won his last seven bouts inside the distance, albeit, against limited opposition.
