Well-regarded amateur boxer, Tony Losey, was killed Tuesday in a freak accident involving a tank.
Losey, who was regarded as the third best amateur welterweight in the nation, was sandblasting the underside of a 12,000 pound tank at a steel plate fabricator facility when the tank shifted on its supports and fell directly on Losey, killing him instantly.
The 22-year-old from Wichita, Kansas was working to turn his life around, going from a 2011 conviction for aggravated battery to winning medals and impressing boxing people with his in-ring skill and determination. Among his achievements was a bronze medal at the 2013 National Golden Gloves and a silver medal at the USA Boxing National Championships.
Losey is survived by his fiancée and two daughters.
