Per Golden Boy Promotions Press Release:

Los Angeles (October 6) – Due to a persistent ankle injury, Canelo Alvarez must withdraw from his December 6 bout. He thanks his fans for their support and looks forward to big things in 2015 on HBO.

The December 6 bout with Joshua Clottey was to be Alvarez’s first bout in a contract reportedly calling for nine fights over three years with the premium channel. Widely panned by media and fans, Alvarez-Clottey had apparently received the full green light from HBO management.

Golden Boy apparently plans to keep that December 6 date, however, and will confirm bouts and a new venue in an upcoming announcement.
