This Thursday, February 21st, Lou DiBella’s “Broadway Boxing” returns to the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Headlining the card will be once beaten Thomas Dulorme (16-1, 12 KOs) taking on Eddie Brooks (9-3, 3 KOs) in the shows eight-round main event.
Dulorme is a former NABF welterweight champion with a solid amateur back ground that includes multiple Golden Gloves championships and an amateur record of 140-2. Aside from his lone defeat, he’s done well as a professional, at one point tallying a 10-fight knockout streak and beating more experienced fighters like Harrison Cuello (KO 2) and DeMarcus Corley (W 10). He’s been featured on numerous televised broadcasts including “Broadway Boxing”, “Friday Night Fights”, and “Shobox”. Dulorme had a small set back in his last outing, meeting former regional titlist and at the time a 33-1 (27 KOs) fighter, Luis Carlos Abregu on HBO’s “Boxing After Dark” broadcast last October. Dulorme was dropped twice in the fight before his corner called things off in the seventh round. It was Dulorme’s first professional loss and cost him the WBC International welterweight title.
His opponent, Eddie Brooks, is making his first trip to the Big Apple. Fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, Brooks is coming off a six round loss to Ricky Duenas back in March of 2011. He’s 2-3 in his last five outings, including back to back losses to John Molina (KO by 2, L 6). The loss to Duenas was Brooks only fight since 2009.
In an eight round support bout, undefeated Ivan Redkach (13-0, 11 KOs) meets Sergio Rivera (27-10-2, 17 KOs). This will be Redkach’s fourth trip to the Ballroom, his previous three bouts being in the same venue. He’s coming off an eight-round decision over Edward Valdez in December, and prior to that bout had tallied a seven-fight knockout streak. Rivera’s on a two-fight win streak over less than stellar opposition, and rode a five-fight losing streak before that. For a short time in 2010, he held the WBC FECOMBOX lightweight title.
Rounding out the eight-round bouts, native New Yorker Charlie Ota (21-1-1, 15 KOs) takes on Abel Perry (18-6, 9 KOs). With exception to one bout fought at Madison Square Garden, Ota’s fought exclusively in Japan, holding the Japanese and OPBF light middleweight titles. Since losing an eight-round decision to Takejiro Kato in 2007, Ota’s undefeated in 16 bouts (1 draw), 12 coming by stoppage. Abel Perry last fought in September, losing an eight-round decision to Don Mouton in Oklahoma. Notable names on Perry’s resume include: Jonathan Gonzalez (KO by 6), Marteze Logan (TKO 6), and Grady Brewer (L by 6).
The under card consists of a six round bout between undefeated light heavyweight and two time Golden Gloves champion Travis Peterkin (6-0, 3 KOs) and Thomas Turner (3-2, 2 KOs). Fan favorite Keisher McLeod Wells (5-2, 1 KO) returns after nearly a year of inactivity to face Canadian amateur champion Jacqueline Hart (1-0, 0 KO), also scheduled for six rounds.
In four-round action, light welterweight Louis Cruz (1-0, 1 KO) faces Demond Brock (3-1, 2 KOs), junior middleweight Patrick Day (1-0, 1 KO) meets Dominique Foster (2-1-1, 0 KO), 2012 Ecuadorian Olympian and 2011 Pan-American Heavyweight Champion Ytalo Parea makes his pro debut against Excell Holmes (2-1-1, 1 KO), and junior lightweight Neuky Santelises (3-0, 2 KOs) takes on Denis Madriz (0-1).
The event will be broadcast live on broadband through GFL.TV. SNY will broadcast the event tape-delayed. First bout scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
