CBS, in conjunction with Showtime, has announced a multi-year commitment to boxing that will see the network broadcast as many as eight boxing cards this year in a Saturday afternoon series.
As of right now, the plans are to feature the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) product established by powerful adviser, Al Haymon, who will also have his PBC product placed on NBC, NBC Sports, Spike TV, BET, and, if rumors are true, ESPN.
The CBS afternoon series will kick off April 4 at 3 p.m. ET as light heavyweight world champ Adonis Stevenson takes on Sakio Bika. On the undercard, undefeated light heavyweight prospect Artur Beterbiev will face veteran former world champ Gabriel Campillo.
The next telecast is slated for May 9 at 4:30 p.m. ET when former lightweight champ Omar Figueroa takes on another former lightweight titlist, Ricky Burns.
Subsequent dates are scheduled for June, July, and September with three more dates to be determined by the end of the year.
