James Kirkland (27-0, 24 KOs), after two tune-up fights against marginal opposition since returning from his two year incarceration for parole violations, will be stepping up in class on the April 9th pay-per-view undercard of Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales.
Kirkland will be facing Japanese jr. middleweight contender, Nobuhiro Ishida (22-6-2, 7 KOs). The former interim WBA jr. middleweight champ from Osaka, Japan lost his last bout to Rigoberto Alvarez, brother of Saul Alvarez, via split decision in October of last year.
Kirkland-Ishida now joins Maidana-Morales, Robert Guerrero-Michael Katsidis, and Paulie Malignaggi-Jose Cotto on the PPV telecast from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
