Saturday’s scheduled middleweight title bout at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas between defending WBO and IBF champ Janibek Alimkhanuly and Andrei Mikhailovich has been cancelled at the last minute. According to reports, Kazakhstan’s Alimkhanuly fainted Thursday night while working to cut weight. According to ESPN, he was admitted to Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center.
“He was put on an IV,” Alimkhanuly’s manager Egis Klimas told ESPN. “While the scans showed no kidney damage, he was severely dehydrated and in no condition to fight.
The lightweight contest between high-ranking 135 lb. contender Raymond Muratalla (20-0, 16 KOs) and Tevin Farmer (33-5-1, 8 KOs) has been elevated to main event status.
