The Sleeper Matchup On Boxing Insider’s Card This Saturday: “Dimes” Crowder Versus Duke Micah

Dominique “Dimes” Crowder 17-0 (10 KOs) vs Duke “Baby-faced Terminator” Micah 24-2 (19 KOs) is a severely underrated matchup taking place this weekend as part of a triple main event on Boxing Insider’s upcoming card at The Showroom at Tropicana Atlantic City — which we will be covering ringside.

Two undeniably talented, underrated, skillful fighters in the bantamweight division, “Dimes” holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) International strap and is ranked 14 by the sanctioning body, while Micah is coming off of two consecutive losses, though one of which was a shot at the WBO belt against John Riel Casimero back in 2020.

31-year-old “Dimes” is rather lengthy for 118 lbs, standing at slightly under six feet tall, and proving quite a difficult target to tag. He moves with speed and agility, and is able to throw his one two, and combos alike, while maintaining a healthy distance from his opponent — naturally, he refrains from taking significant damage.

Young and hungry, the Baltimore native is looking to continue making strides forward to earn a shot at a world title.

“Boxing is a waiting game,” Crowder explained to Boxing Insider, “and I need to stay ready until I get that call (world title shot offer). Because I’m ranked, it could happen at any time. If not, I’ll keep working hard to move up and become the mandatory challenger. Hopefully, my chance could happen next year. I’m getting better and better and I’m always fighting bigger guys than me at training camp, real punchers, never guys my weight.

“I’m willing to go to the moon to get my world title shot! I’ll only get one shot at my first world title fight,” he continued. “So I’ll roll the dice and fight anywhere in the world.”

Meanwhile, Micah, the 33-year-old Ghanaian, is slightly more experienced, and has held gold at the regional level throughout his 12 year career, including the EBC International, Commonwealth Boxing Council and WBO African bantamweight titles.

Micah’s fight style is a bit more sluggish. He has notable power, and a sharp lead jab. Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see if he can connect shots as a shorter fighter than “Dimes,” who tends to swiftly gallop out of range.

Micah stands at just 5-foot-7 inches tall.

The two will battle it out over eight rounds come Saturday, each looking to turn heads in the fight world, as their bout will be streamed on DAZN. Whichever fighter gains victory, will garner international respect, and a closer chance at the label of champion.
