Grind…Here…Now…
* The Yuriorkis Gamboa-Orlando Salido bout scheduled for July 24th on HBO has been postponed due to a cut on Salido. The cancellation also probably means the end of the proposed undercard scorcher between Brandon Rios and Anthony Peterson.
* Miguel Cotto will be the Grand Marshall of the Puerto Rican Day parade in Chicago later today.
* Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, presented Turkish boxer, Selcuk Aydin, with a special award at a public ceremony yesterday. Aydin was honored for winning the WBC Silver Welterweight title on June 5th against Jo Jo Dan. Aydin expressed his desire to fight Andre Berto for the full title and, hopefully, bring that fight to his native Turkey.
* Hasim Rahman, who is in action against Shannon Miller later on tonight, says that he’s working for a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko at some point in early 2011. His plan is to fight as often as possible to stay sharp and work his way back up the ladder.
* The previous week’s Daily Grind articles were wiped out due to some tech issues…Sorry for the inconvenience, but I’m just learning this tech stuff myself…
See y’all next time…
