Weekend Grind…

* Light Heavyweight prospect and BTBC House Fighter (as voted on by the members of the BTBC Fan Forum). Nathan Cleverly has earned his Math degree from Cardiff University in his native Wales. Cleverly is scheduled to make the first defense of his European light heavyweight title against Nadjib Mohammedi of France on the 10th of July. After that, he’s looking for something on the world stage.

* Salvador Sanchez II, the nephew of the legendary Salvador Sanchez, will be coming into his fight against Tomas Villa at the Alamodome later today (as part of the Latin Fury 15 card), wearing the robe, trunks and shows that his uncle wore in his title bout with Juan LaPorte in 1980.

* Top Rank will be airing a live stream of the non-televised undercard of the Latin Fury 15 event later on today. The stream starts at 7:15 pm Eastern time and can be accessed at www.toprank.com.

* It has been reported in more than one website, with Dan Rafael of ESPN being the initial source, that Top Rank is making preliminary preparations to pitch an Antonio Margarito-Miguel Cotto rematch at 154 lbs. for December. Of course, Margarito has to regain his license to fight in the US first.

* Dan Rafael is also reporting a possible WBC welterweight title bout pitting champion, Andre Berto, against highly-regarded prospect, Mike Jones, on September 25th. HBO reportedly wants Berto-Mosley for that date, but Mosley may be headlining a September 18th ppv with Sergio Mora. Before anything is official, HBO would have to agree to buy the bout and Jones would have to get by Irving Garcia in their bout on July 9.

…Grind ya later…
