After both fighters reportedly rejected offers to fight Tavoris Cloud for the IBF title, it looks as though Yusaf Mack (28-3-2, 17 KOs) will take on Otis Griffin (23-6-2, 9 KOs) in what could be some sort of IBF title eliminator.
Mack confirmed the bout to The Boxing Tribune, but added that the date and venue have yet to be determined.
Griffin’s last fight of note was a win over Byron Mitchell in May of this year for the USBA light heavyweight title. Mack’s last major fight was a sixth round TKO at the hands of Glen Johnson in February.
Yet to be explained is how a bout between the IBF’s ninth ranked contender (Griffin) and its twelfth ranked contender (Mack) could be considered an eliminator.
