As previously reported here, the title unification bout between WBA light heavyweight champ, Beibut Shumenov (10-1, 6 KOs) and WBO champ, Juergen Braehmer (36-2, 29 KOs), is set in stone and now has a date and venue attached.
The bout will take place January 8th at the Ice Mansion in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
Shumenov, who is a native of Kazakhstan, is coming off a controversial two-fight series with former champ, Gabriel Campillo and a one-sided unanimous decision against fringe contender, Viacheslav Uzelkov.
Germany’s Braehmer, the former interim champ, has made one title defense since winning the full WBO world title, vacated by Zsolt Erdei, in December of 2009.
