Japan’s Kazuto Ioka (7-0, 5 KOs) looks to make the first defense of his WBC strawweight title against Mexico’s Juan Hernandez (18-1, 13 KOs) at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
The 22-year-old Ioka scored the major upset against veteran defending champ, Oleydong Sithsamerchai in February. Prior to that, Ioka had only competed at the national club level in his native Osaka, Japan.
Hernandez, 24, has a considerable edge in experience as the Morelia, Michoacan native is the reigning NABF strawweight champ with six successful defenses, including a win over Filipino, Denver Cuello.
