Yamanaka upsets Darchinyan; Ao, Hasegawa victorious

Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo, Japan–

Japan’s Shinsuke Yamanaka (16-0-2, 11 KOs) upset former flyweight and super flyweight world champ, Vic Darchinyan (37-5-1, 27 KOs) in a bout for the WBC bantamweight title via unanimous decision. The judges’ scores were: 117-111, 116-112, and 116-112.

Hometown fighter, Takahiro Ao (23-2-1, 10 KOs) made the third defense of his WBC super featherweight title with a unanimous decision over Thailand’s Terdsak Kokietgym (46-4-1, 31 KOs). The judges’ scorecards read: 116-112, 118-110, and 116-112.

Former bantamweight world titlist, Hozumi Hasegawa (30-4, 13 KOs), stopped Mexico’s Felipe Carlos Felix (18-1, 10 KOs) in the seventh round of a ten round featherweight contest.
