Several reports have indicated that James Toney has pulled out of his scheduled September 8 bout with Tomasz Adamek. Main Events, who promotes Adamek and the former multi-division champ Toney, could not come to terms on a financial agreement. The events leave Main Events and Adamek without an opponent for the September 8 date at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ which was scheduled to be broadcast on PPV in Adamek’s native Poland.
In addition, Adamek is one of four fighters the IBF has ordered to participate in a box-off to determine the number one contender to champion Wladimir Klitschko. The IBF has ordered Adamek to face Alexander Ustinov while Odlanier Solis and Kubrat Pulev would fight in the other semi-final. The winners would then square off to determine who faces Klitschko. Adamek has told Polish media he has no desire to participate in the box off which could involve fighting in Europe. Adamek is content fighting his scheduled dates for 2012 in America and has no interest in the IBF box-off.
