In Galati, Romania on Friday, undefeated WIBF world light welterweight champion Klara Svensson (7-0, 1 KO) added the WBC silver light welterweight title to her claims when she won 10 round decision over Kremena Petkova (7-5-1, 1 KO). The WIBF belt, which Svensson won in September of 2012 wasn’t on the line. This was Petkovas first loss in her last four outings.
On the under card, Natalia Smirnova (1-0) had a successful pro debut, winning a four round decision against Polina Pencheva (4-11-1, 0 KO)
Alejandra Olveras (29-2-2 14 KO’s) racked up her 10th consecutive victory, defending the WBO featherweight title against Dayana Cordero (10-4, 7 KO’s) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Olveras win the WBO strap in January of 2012 after moving up in weight and vacating the WBA lightweight title; it’s been two years since her last defeat. For Cordero, she is now 0 for 3 in world title tries and 0 for three in scheduled 10 round bouts.
The WBC Youth light flyweight championship was retained by undefeated champion Jessica Plata (9-0, 2 KO’s), who dealt challenger Ivonne Rosas (7-6-1, 1 KO) her four loss in her last five bouts. Plata, who won the Youth title in April from Ibeth Silva, won a 10 round decision in Mexico City. Rosas has never won a title bout.
Also in Mexico, Jessica Chavez (17-3-2, 4 KO’s), won the vacant WBC silver light flyweight title with a 10 round decision over WBF flyweight titlist Irma Sanchez (25-6-1, 7 KO’s). Chavez also holds the interim WBF and IBF light flyweight titles; this was her seventh consecutive win. This was Sanchez’s first loss in seven bouts, her WBF title was not at stake.
On the under card of the show, Lucia Sanchez (2-0, 1 KO) remained undefeated in her young career with a second round stoppage of Maricela Loyola (0-2).
Minor title action in Chile; Carolina Rodriguez (7-0, 0 KO) won the vacant WBA Fedalatin bantamweight title with an eight round decision over Daiane Ribeiro (4-5-1, 2 KO’s). In Italy, former IBF super flyweight champ Simona Galassi (18-2-1, 4 KO’s) won in two rounds over Gabriella Vicze (3-20, 1 KO) when Vicze corner stopped the bout between rounds. Stefany Bizquiazo (8-3-1, 4 KO’s) drew in four rounds with Yessika Munoz (1-7-1) in Argentina. In West Virginia, USA, Crystal Morales (7-8-1, 1 KO) won a four round decision over Tammie Johnson (4-5-2, 0 KO). In Belgium, WIBF lightweight champion Delfine Persoon (23-1, 9 KO’s) won in non-title action with an eight round decision over Fatuma Zarika (23-7-1, 14 KO’s), it was Zarika’s third straight loss.
