According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, and attorney/manager to Alfredo Angulo, Michael Miller – Angulo will face-off against former Cuban Olympic Gold medalist Erislandy Lara on June 8th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. The bout would ideally serve as the televised co-feature to the welterweight main event clash between Marcos Maidana Vs. Josesito Lopez which will air on Showtime Sports.
For Angulo(22-2, 18 KO’s), this is his third and biggest fight since his devastating TKO loss to James Kirkland. That loss was then followed by an 8-month detainment for issues pertaining to Angulo’s legal status in the United States, which brought his career and activity to a screeching halt. With a win over Lara, “El Perro” would be positioning himself for bigger paydays and title contention against the top gunners at 154 lbs.
As for Erislandy Lara(17-1-2, 11 KO’s), it’s also an equally important fight that would help propel the southpaw’s career to new heights and also a chance to fight the same upper class or Jr. Middleweight titlists that Angulo is gunning for.
