Former world heavyweight champion Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe’s new career didn’t get off to a very good start. In Pattaya, Thailand, Bowe was stopped in the second round by 30 year old Russian Levgen Golovin. Bowe took repeated shots to his shins, and hit the canvas five times before the bouts end.
An Olympic silver medalist, Bowe was one of the top heavyweights of the 1990’s, holding the unified heavyweight championship, and taking part in three bouts with Evander Holyfield, the first of which won RING Magazine’s Fight of the Year award. He retired in 2008 with a final record of 43-1 (33 KO’s).
Unfortunately, the 45 year old Bowe, who reportedly weighed in at 300 pounds for the match, has plans to proceed with a Muay Thai career.
