It was a slow week for the ladies. In Argentina, the lone women’s world title bout took place between IBF super featherweight champion Claudia Andrea Lopez (24-7, 6 KO’s) and Betiana Patricia Vinas (9-5-3, 2 KO’s) with Lopez retaining the title by split decision. This was Lopez’s first defense after winning the strap in August with a fourth round stoppage of Diana Ayala. She held this same title a year ago, and has also held the WBA featherweight title. In April, she failed in a shot at the IBF featherweight championship. Vinas holds the WBC Silver featherweight title, and had won four straight coming into this bout.
In Indiana, U.S.A., former WBC International lightweight champion Mary McGee (21-3, 11 KO’s) won a six round decision over Lakeysha Williams (9-18-3, 1 KO). McGee was coming off back to back losses to Erica Farias and Holly Holm, both world title affairs. Williams is now on a 12 fight losing streak and hasn’t won since 2004.
In Rhode Island, Jaime Clampitt (22-5-1, 7 KO’s) won in six rounds over Dominga Olivo (8-9-1) on the undercard of the Manfredo-Gingras headliner. Clampitt is a former IWBF lightweight title holder, this was said to be Clampitt’s final bout.
Leonie Giebel (5-0-1) defeated Anika Kurzer (1-4-1) in Germany, winning the regional BDB German super featherweight title.
