IBF International lightweight title holder Tommy “Boom Boom” Coyle (17-2, 7 KO’s) will defend his title February 22nd in front of a hometown crowd at the Ice Arena in Hull, Yorkshire, United Kingdom when he faces Daniel Eduardo Brizuela (25-2-2, 8 KO’s). Coyle’s won two comeback bouts since suffering a stoppage loss to Derry Mathews in July, most recently beating John Simpson via seventh round TKO to win the vacant IBF title.
Coyle credits former EBU light middleweight champion Jamie Moore for getting him back on track. He told SKY Sports, “I’m very lucky to have Jamie Moore in my camp, He’s around boxing 24/7, he’s a student of the game and is a boxing anorak. He brings so much knowledge to the table when he’s training me.”
Brizuela is a former IBF Latino lightweight title holder. He’s coming off a 12 round loss to Daud Cino Yordan in a bid for the IBO lightweight title. Coyle takes the challenge seriously, “We’ve seen plenty of him on You Tube, he’s not a typical Argentinian that comes forward and fight, he’s more of a cute boxer and looks an intelligent fighter and it could be a bit of a chess match”.
A win over Brizuela could put Coyle in line for an IBF elimination match against Kevin Mitchell.
