Two time New York Golden Gloves champion Earl Newman is set to join the pro ranks, and will make his debut at the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino on October 4th as part of the untelevised portion of a special edition of Showtime boxing. The card is headlined by Rances Barthlemey defending the IBF super featherweight title against Fernando Saucedo.

The talented amateur has accomplished quite a lot in short time as a boxer, entering the ring for the first time in 2010. In four short years, he’s tallied a 55-7 amateur record with two N.Y. Golden Gloves titles (2013, 2014), a win at the National Golden Gloves in Utah, the National PAL tournament in Oxnard, CA, and the World Golden Gloves in Waldorf, MD. He also participated in the World Series of Boxing in Germany and made the finals of the European Championships in 2013 and 2014.

Competing in the 201 pound class, Newman’s pro career will be start at cruiserweight, but he aims to make his career as a light heavyweight.  He’s promoted by Lou DiBella.
