Wicomico Civic Center, Salisbury, Maryland– Middleweight prospect, Fernando Guerrero (21-0, 16 KOs), had little to worry about against opponent Derrick Findley (17-5, 11 KOs) while fighting in the main event of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights on the first 3D boxing telecast in US history.
From the signing of the bout right through to the introductions, everybody knew how this fight would play out. Guerrero is light years ahead of Findley in every area and it showed in a one-sided dominant performance in front of Guerrero’s adopted home town.
The bout looked like the same round played over and over as Guerrero flashed his impressive hand speed and educated combinations against a Findley who held his hands up and just seemed happy to not get killed.
Findley was never in the contest, but Guerrero, for all his ability and talent, never found the right strategy to put his out-classed rival away.
The judges’ scorecards were predictably one-sided: 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91. The Boxing Tribune also cored the contest 100-90 in favor of Guerrero.
On the undercard, welterweight prospect, Shawn Porter (18-0, 13 KOs) had a tougher time than expected in beating underdog, Anges Adjaho (25-5, 14 KO’s), by scores of 99-91, 99-91, and 97-93.
Also, regional prospect, Dominic Wade (10-0, 8 KOs) defeated Grover Young (4-1, 2 KOs) in a four round contest by three scores of 40-36.
Longshoreman’s Hall, San Francisco, CA– The only thing missing from this execution was a cigarette and a blindfold as Genaro Trazancos (22-14-1, 13 KOs), loser of 8 of his last 9 coming in (7 by KO), was massacred by the hungrier, fresher and infinitely better Gesta.
The bout was called after an especially brutal third round, giving Trazancos his fourth consecutive KO/TKO loss.
On the undercard, Eloy Perez (20-0-2, 5 KOs) won an eight round unanimous, shutout decision over Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez (27-4, 18 KOs). The Judges’ scorecards were: 80-72 all the way around.
