IBF lightweight champ, Miguel Vazquez (27-3, 12 KOs), is set to make the second defense of his title against Australia’s Leonardo Zappavigna (25-0, 17 KOs) on the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga undercard March 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Vazquez, despite being trained at the hard core Azteca Gym by the infamous Javier Capetillo, is a smooth, multi-dimensional boxer who arrived on the world scene with his one-sided victory over Korean pressure fighter, Ji Hoon Kim for the vacant belt in August of last year.
Coincidentally, Zappavigna’s biggest fight to date has also been against Kim, who the Aussie demolished in one round back in October.
Check out Rico Aguirre’s exclusive video of Vazquez sparring at the Azteca Gym as well as a brief interview below:
Interview Translation:
Rico: “Titere” Vazquez, How are you going to beat Zappavigna?
Vazquez: Well, we have a strategy. I’m going to box him in the first few rounds, and depending how the fight goes, I’m going to try to knock him out.
