Terrazas blasts Palma, Godoy decisions Baldomir; The rest of Saturday’s action

Arandas Municipal Auditorium, Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico–

Rising Mexican junior featherweight star, Victor Terrazas (33-2-1, 19 KOs) battered and eventually knocked out overmatched Colombian, Jose Palma (15-6-2, 10 KOs) in the fourth round of their scheduled twelve round contest.

To his credit, Palma was punching and making a fight of it right up until a straight right hand completely turned out his lights in the fourth round.

On the undercard, former world title challenger, Christian Esquivel (25-3, 18 KOs) won the vacant NABF bantamweight title via unanimous decision over fellow Mexican, Jesus Ruiz (28-5-4, 21 KOs) by scores of: 116-111, 116-111, and 116-112.

Estadio Ruca Che, Neuquen, Neuquen, Argentina–

In an all-Argentine middleweight clash, Billi Facundo Godoy (25-0, 13 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over former lineal welterweight champ, Carlos Baldomir (48-14-6, 14 KOs). The judges’ scorecards read: 99-91, 97-93, and 98-93.

Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland

Former interim world titlist and hometown favorite, Alex Arthur (31-3, 21 KOs) scored an eight round points decision over hopelessly overmatched, Michael Frontin (3-13-1).

Also, middleweight, Craig McEwan (20-2, 10 KOs) took a comfortable eight round points decision over club fighter, Paul Morby (6-13-1)

Sablayan Astrodome, Sablayan, Mindoro Occidental, Philippines–

Junior featherweight contender, Drian Francisco (22-1-1, 17 KOs), stopped Thai journeyman, Pichitchai Twins Gym (22-16, 15 KOs) at the :33 mark of the first round.

Cicero Stadium, Cicero, Illinois–

Former world title challenger, Edner Cherry (30-6-2, 16 KOs) scored a majority ten round decision over club fighter, Juan Carlos Martinez (19-14-1, 7 KOs) in a ten round junior welterweight bout.
