Although it was announced as being a done deal by the WBC late last week, the mandated Danny Garcia-Viktor Postol junior welterweight bout for Garcia’s WBA and WBC titles will not be happening.

According to reports, the Ukraine’s Postol agreed to take “step aside” money from Garcia in order to not enforce his status as mandatory no. 1 challenger.

This leaves Garcia with the freedom to make yet another voluntary defense of his title before once against dealing with a mandatory.

Regarding Postol and the previously mandated defense, Garcia had this to say via social media: “No disrespect, but I didn’t even know who Postol was till about a week ago. He doesn’t even have any notable wins.”
