We start the week on Thursday in Australia with Alex Leapai taking on Owen Beck in a heavyweight contest. It’s a fight we normally wouldn’t care about, but after Leapai’s barn burner and potential FOTY against Travis Walker, its worth taking a look at this fight purely for the entertainment value.

On Friday, we move to ESPN and to the Chris Arreola comeback trail. Big Chris is going up against Manuel Quezdada in what is sure to be a confidence boosting fight. Has Chris finally decided to get into shape? Have the losses to Vitali Klitscho and Tomasz Adamek finally made him decide to train properly? Or will we see the same old Arreola? Either way it promises to be fun as Arreola is never in a dull fight.

On the undercard, 168 prospect, Shawn Estrada, continues his young career with a fight against Alex Armenta. We should see Estrada cruise to another win.

We move to Saturday and to Texas where we have a wonderful card brought to us by FOX. Miguel Vasquez against Ji Hoon Kim for an alphabet title and we also have prospect Miguel Garcia facing off with Cornelius Lock. Also on this card is the now 0-2 Rene Luna. For those of us who caught his debut against yes Luna, despite losing this guy is must watch as he is all action. I only hope TV actually shows this one.

We then move to Panama and to the best card of the weekend. Anselmo Moreno v Nehomar Cermeno for a 118 title. If the rumours are true, then the winner of this fight will enter the 118 Super Six tournament which is the true hardcore fans dream at the moment. On the same card we also get Gennady Golovkin against Milton Nunez for some interim trinket at 160 in what should be an entertaining fight. Also on this card is another fifteen fights. Lets hope there’s a last minute deal to get this televised.

Hasim Rahman continues his comeback with a bout against Damon Reed. YAWN

Still on Saturday, we move to Montreal and the much anticipated Chad Dawson-Jean Pascal, Lineal 175 lb. title fight. For the hardcore fan, we have been crying out for this fight for at least twelve months. Will Dawson’s chin hold up to Pascal’s power? Will Pascal even be able to land against the quicker, smoother Dawson? We don’t know but were going to have fun finding out.

That’s it for this week. There are some great fights for the hardcore fan, lets just hope we get to see them all.

See you next week
