Audley Harrison has announced he will continue to box. Question is will he ever actually fight?
Carl Froch put on a boxing clinic last weekend. Carl now looks to be the favourite to make it through to the final alongside Andre Ward. Anyone else think that Ward is going to get a bye into the finals as Abraham will pull out?
According to Dan Rafael, Juan Manuel Marquez and Michael Katsidis exchanged gifts in the hotel room of Marquez after the fight. Both of these men are a credit to the sport. To fight like they did then embrace each other at the end speaks volumes about the people they truly are.
Juan Manuel Marquez v Manny Pacquiao 3 has to be made. Listen to me, Bob, make the dam fight, make it at a weight somewhere between 140-143 and the world will be happy.
Sticking with Bob, we know Manny will fight Mosley next. Bob has already let the cat out of the bag. He also told every single real boxing fan to go fuck themselves with that statement.
How about Katsidis taking on Brandon Rios? It’s an instant fight of the year contender in my opinion, although I wouldn’t begrudge Katsidis a gimme next time out.
According to unconfirmed reports, Paul Williams has apparently turned down a rubber match with Sergio Martinez. Ill be honest, I don’t blame him.
Jeff Lacy is going to make another come back. What is the point?
Nate Campbell made the right decision and retired. On behalf of Boxing fans everywhere, thank you for the memories. Your fight with Juan Diaz will stand the test of time and ensure you live on forever. Thanks Champ and good luck for the future.
Lets get to the fights.
Bum v Bum? Some people seem to think so as David Lemieux takes on Purnell Gates in Quebec Friday night. We know Lemieux has power what we have not seen is if he can actually box. We wont find out Friday night either.
The next “new Felix Trinidad” is back this week. Jonathon Gonzalez is currently a perfect 10-0 with all wins coming by KO. After this fight it’s time for him to step up.
Kendall Holt is back on Showtime fighting an 8 rounder against a guy who is 7-9-1. How can a commission sanction fights like this?
Jonathan Barros will fight for the WBA featherweight title against Irving Berry. Can somebody tell the WBA that Chris John is actually alive and well and in fact, still the WBA Champion. Actually, someone tell them John is defending the title against Fernando Saucedo at home this weekend.
Alex Leapai goes head to head with Darnell Wilson. Both guys are Journeymen but it should be a great fight. One worth keeping an eye out for.
Former European Champion Ryan Rhodes takes part in an 8 rounder against the nicely named Rocky Junior. New UK Welterweight prospect Denton Vassell is also on the card.
Ricky Burns will defend his WBO trinket against unworthy challenger Andreas Evensen. In a division with Jorge Solis, Mzonke Fana and Jorge Linares, how does Evensen get a title shot?
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez goes toe to toe with Lovemore Ndou in his native Mexico. Expect another win.
Humberto Soto defends his trinket against Urbano Antillon. It’s a decent fight between two genuine top ten contenders. However how anybody could call either fighter champion after watching Juan Manuel Marquez defeat Michael Katsidis last weekend is clearly insane.
Nonito Donaire rounds the week off against Volodymyr Sydorenko, who has coincidentally entered the Ring rankings at number 10 this week. Is it not wonderful when a plan comes together?
